Overview
Smartronic.solutions is an independent printer help blog operated by Smartronics LLC. This Editorial Policy describes how we create, verify, and update the content published on the Site, and how we maintain editorial independence. We publish this policy because we believe readers deserve transparency about who is producing the content they read and how it is produced.
Our Editorial Team
The Site is overseen by a small editorial team of four contributors, led by founder Kiante Welford. The team handles topic selection, drafting, fact-checking, editing, and updates to existing articles.
We are a small publication, and we believe in being honest about our scale. We are not a large staff of certified technicians, and we do not claim to test every model on the market. What we are is a focused team that publishes practical, well-researched guides for ordinary printer owners — the kind of content we wished existed when we were looking for printer help ourselves.
What We Publish (and What We Don't)
We publish:
- Troubleshooting guides — step-by-step articles addressing specific printer problems (paper jams, offline status, error codes, driver issues, etc.)
- Setup tutorials — how-to articles for initial printer setup, Wi-Fi configuration, and software installation
- Maintenance guides — best practices for keeping printers running reliably
- Educational buying guides — framework-based articles that help readers think through printer purchases without ranking specific models
- Reference content — error code glossaries and feature explainers
We do not publish:
- Sponsored content disguised as editorial articles
- Reviews of products we have not engaged with in some way (whether through hands-on testing or substantive research)
- Articles that primarily exist to drive affiliate clicks rather than help readers
- "News" content or speculation about products that have not been released
- Content outside our editorial scope (we cover printers, not the broader tech industry)
How We Choose Topics
Topic selection is driven primarily by:
- Reader questions — emails and feedback we receive often surface problems we should write about
- Common search queries — we look at the problems people are actively searching for solutions to
- Gaps in existing coverage — we prioritize topics where the existing internet coverage is generic, outdated, or unnecessarily technical
- Updates needed — when manufacturers release new products, drivers, or interfaces that affect our existing guides
We do not select topics based on advertiser interest, manufacturer relationships, or affiliate revenue potential, because we have none of those commercial relationships (see "Editorial Independence" below).
How We Research and Write
Our editorial process combines hands-on work with research-based verification:
- Hands-on testing where practical. When our team has physical access to a printer relevant to a topic, we test the steps in our guides on actual hardware. This is most common for setup, troubleshooting, and common-error articles covering printer models we own or have borrowed access to.
- Research-based verification. For models we cannot test directly, or for technical specifications, we rely on the manufacturer's official documentation (user manuals, support knowledge bases, spec sheets), reputable technical references, and our team's prior experience with similar products. We do not invent steps or fabricate information.
- Plain language. Every article is written to be readable by people without technical backgrounds. We minimize jargon and define technical terms where we need to use them.
- Actionable steps. Our guides aim to give readers concrete actions they can take, rather than vague advice ("contact a technician") or generic platitudes.
We are honest about the difference between what we have tested and what we have researched. Where a specific number or specification appears in our content (for example, page-per-minute speeds or duty cycles), readers should always verify the figure against the manufacturer's current documentation for their specific model.
Fact-Checking and Accuracy
Before publication, articles are reviewed by at least one other team member for clarity, accuracy, and completeness. We check:
- That technical steps work as described, or that research-based steps reference authoritative sources
- That brand names, model numbers, and product features are spelled and described correctly
- That references to operating systems, software versions, and interfaces reflect what readers will actually see at the time of publication
- That any claims that could affect a reader's hardware or data include appropriate cautions
Updates and Revisions
Printer software, firmware, drivers, and operating systems change. We aim to keep our content current in the following ways:
- We review high-traffic guides periodically and update them when the underlying technology changes meaningfully
- We act on reader-submitted corrections (see "Corrections" below)
- We update articles in response to major OS releases (Windows, macOS), significant manufacturer software changes, or notable shifts in best practice
We do not silently change the substance of an article without noting that it has been updated. When we make a substantive correction or update, the date at the top of the article is revised to reflect the change.
Corrections
If you find an error in any of our articles — whether factual, technical, or typographical — we genuinely want to know. We treat corrections seriously and will:
- Acknowledge your message within 1–2 business days
- Investigate the issue, including consulting the original sources used in the article
- Make the correction if warranted, updating the article and revising the publication date to reflect the change
- Reply to let you know the outcome
To submit a correction, email service@smartronic.solutions with the article title, the specific issue, and (if possible) the source or evidence that contradicts our current content. We appreciate the help.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial decisions — what to write about, what to recommend, how to describe products — are made solely by our editorial team. They are not influenced by any commercial relationship, because no such relationships currently exist.
Specifically, at the time this Policy was last updated, Smartronic.solutions does not:
- Accept payment, free products, or other consideration from printer manufacturers in exchange for coverage
- Display third-party advertisements on the Site
- Participate in any affiliate program (Amazon Associates or otherwise)
- Publish sponsored posts, paid placements, or "advertorial" content
- Sell newsletter inclusions, banner placements, or any other paid promotion
If this changes in the future — for example, if we add display advertising or join an affiliate program — we will update this Policy and the Disclaimer to reflect the change, and we will disclose those relationships clearly and conspicuously on the relevant pages.
No Affiliation with Manufacturers
We routinely write about printers from major manufacturers including (but not limited to) HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Xerox, Lexmark, and others. Smartronic.solutions and Smartronics LLC are independent and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to any of these manufacturers.
References to brand names, product names, and model numbers in our content are for identification, description, and editorial commentary only. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
Reader Comments and Submissions
We do not currently host a public comments section on the Site. Reader engagement happens exclusively via email. This is a deliberate choice: it keeps the Site focused on editorial content, avoids spam and abuse, and gives us the space to respond thoughtfully when readers reach out.
Content sent to us by email (questions, feedback, corrections, topic ideas) may be referenced in future articles, in line with our Terms & Conditions. We will not identify individual readers by name in articles without their permission.
Our Limitations
In the interest of honesty, here are some things we want readers to understand about our limitations:
- We are a small editorial team — we cannot test every printer model on the market, and our hands-on coverage is necessarily limited to the printers we have access to
- Printer firmware, drivers, and software change frequently, and a guide that worked at publication time may need adjustments later — always cross-check critical steps against the manufacturer's current documentation for your specific model
- We are not a substitute for manufacturer support, certified service technicians, or warranty service for serious hardware issues
- We do not provide one-on-one technical support through the Site — our email replies cover article corrections and content feedback, not personal troubleshooting

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Editorial Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices. The current version will always be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes — particularly anything affecting our editorial independence or commercial relationships — will be reflected clearly.
